FaithLab

Redeemer’s Faith Lab includes children in Preschool (3 years and up) to Fifth Grade. It’s during our time together that we form a special bond in faith and learn more about God. Faith Lab lays the foundation for a lifetime of learning and loving the Bible. It’s about including the whole family. It’s about discovering who we are as people. But most importantly, it’s about strengthening our faith in Christ through Service, Fellowship and Education.

This is where strong, healthy relationships start!

Children's Church  & Sunday Morning Youth Classes

Children's Church is a time when children ages 4 to second grade are taken out of the service just prior to the sermon starting to attend their own kid friendly worship service. During this time the leader presents a short message which includes topics on Lutheran theology, the church calendar, how to behave in worship and Bible stories. The lesson also includes singing and a craft that go along with the worship theme chosen by the pastor. The purpose of the time is to teach young children the value and purpose of worship.

Sunday School classes are offered to ages 3 to high school with age appropriate lessons that include music, crafts and Bible story discussions for younger children and deeper small group discussions for older students. The time is from 9:45-10:45am every Sunday. Please see below the room locations for each grade:

  • Jennifer Hampton

Hello, I’m Jen Hampton. I recently celebrated 25 years of marriage and we have a 12 year old daughter. I have an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelors in Sociology, and a Masters in Special Education. I taught preschool for 9 years and have been teaching middle school for students with disabilities for the last 12 years. I have assisted with Vacation Bible School, Screen on the Green, Food Bank, other church family events, and the Christmas pageant. I coordinated Children’s Church for a few years as well as volunteered to teach it. I’ve been an assistant Sunday School teacher for the last 4 years. As you can tell, I love kids.

I am proud wife and mom to two young boys. We all live in Chester, VA. However, our dedication to Redeemer is strong and worth the drive! I have been a member of Redeemer since I was three years old. I attended Redeemer preschool as a child, and, at 15 years old, my first job was working at Redeemer’s Child Development Center (CDC) as an assistant teacher. I worked there for eight years throughout high school and college. I went on to become a public school teacher in Hopewell. I taught second grade for six years and third grade for two years. After a few years as a stay-at-home mom, I decided to come back “home” to Redeemer. I am now the Infant, Toddler and Two-year old Coordinator for the CDC and absolutely love my job! I have never had a better balance of family, work and faith. I started teaching Sunday School three years ago and currently serve on Redeemer’s children’s ministry committee. Teaching and Redeemer have always been a passion of mine and I have found where my heart belongs.

  • Becky Wright

As the daughter of a Catholic Deacon and long time youth director, it is no surprise Becky Wright started working with the youth of her church back in 1996. After so many years of lock-ins, retreats, bible studies, games, chaos and fun she feels like she has experienced about everything a teenagers can think of, but they never cease to amaze with something new. Becky and her family joined Redeemer in the fall of 2014, where she has served in the capacity of Confirmation Guide, YouthQuake chaperone and middle school youth group leader. As the mother of 5 children, Becky feels like working with the youth is just an extension of running her own family. There is mayhem and joy experienced in every gathering. She looks forward to serving the families of Redeemer as the Youth Coordinator.
