  • Rev. Dr. Matthew Bean

    Senior Pastor

    Matthew Bean has served at Redeemer since his ordination, beginning in 2000 as Assistant Pastor, and then becoming Senior Pastor in 2010. "Redeemer has been proven to be a wonderful place to serve," Pastor Bean recalls. "There is a growing sense of anticipation and enthusiasm among Redeemer's members and visitors... a spirit of celebration."

  • dcs. barbara coffin

    director of discipleship

    Deaconess Barbara Coffin joined Redeemer’s staff in 2014, bringing with her 4 years experience as an over-seas missionary in Japan and also 7 years as Minister of Christian Education in the local congregation. Most recently she worked in the business and financial sector. She brings to Redeemer her passion for growing others in their Christian faith and challenging them to be “A Little Christ” to those around them. She is very excited to be at Redeemer as the Director of Discipleship and looks forward to growing and serving together with the members of Redeemer and its community. Barbara is happily married to Jeffrey and they have two beautiful boys.

  • kELLY kRAMER

    Youth Coordinator

    Kelly Kramer joined Redeemer’s staff as Youth Coordinator in 2013 after many years of regular volunteering with Redeemer's youth. Kelly and her two children, Maison and McKenna, have been part of the Redeemer family for over 10 years. She has a bachelor’s degree in Health and Physical Education from Virginia Commonwealth University and has worked as a Manager for Target for 10 years now. Kelly explains, “I believe God has called my family to be at Redeemer, and has provided for my family in so many ways.” About her role as youth coordinator, Kelly shares, “I believe faith-based youth programs are an essential resource, helping families and students form a healthy Christ-centered identity. So we intentionally create positive growth opportunities and life experiences for students that will help them develop into faith-filled adults.”

  • Cheryl Van Ornam

    Traditional Music Director

    Cheryl joined Redeemer's staff in 2006, bringing a unique blend of professional expertise and personal interests to Redeemer's music program. With a bachelor's degree in piano from Pacific Union College and a master's degree in organ/church music from Northwestern University, Cheryl desires to use her God-given musical talents to share her love of God, her love for people, and her love for music.

  • Michael Kalson

    Contemporary Worship Leader

    Michael joined the Redeemer Lutheran family in April 2015. His desire to play music and worship started at the age of 8 when his family traveled as a Worship Group. In his free time he has lead the music program for the KAIROS and EMMAUS Ministry Events. Michael served in the US Navy for over 11 years and is truly passionate about our country and that it was founded on “In God We Trust”.

  • Kathy Bakken

    Preschool and Child Care Center Director

    Kathy Bakken joined Redeemer's preschool program in 1994. After years of experience teaching in Redeemer's 3 and 4-year old program, as well as Child Care and Summer Camp programs, Kathy was promoted to Assistant Director in 2005, and then to Director in 2007. "I love working with our families and our staff," Kathy reflects, "especially watching these children grow through their early years. It's wonderful to watch them learn about God, about themselves, and about other people."

  • Vonya Burgis

    Office Administrator/Communications

    Vonya joined Redeemer’s staff in 2009. She brought over eight years of expertise as an administrator. Combining a wealth of professional skills, a bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies, and most especially a heart for ministry, Vonya's energy has transformed Redeemer's office environment and online presence.

  • Becky Wistrom

    PT Accountant

    Becky Wistrom joined Redeemer’s staff as a PT Accountant in May 2015. She brings over 40 years of accounting experience including acting as Control Unit Manager and AVP at Signet Bank and as Cash Manager with The Reciprocal Group. Becky also volunteers as Treasurer of Hopewell United Methodist Church and prepares audits for churches around Virginia. Becky uses her accounting talents as a way to give back to God for the blessings she has received.
