Hearts of Service Day 2019

SIGN UP BELOW

Hearts of Service (HOS) Day 2019 will take on Saturday, May 4 from 8:30 am to Noon with lunch served at noon at the church and to off-site projects.

HOS is a very exciting opportunity for all ages to serve our members, our church, and the surrounding community in the name of spreading the love of Jesus!

Projects this year:

BINGO

Giving back to our Senior community.  Volunteers for Bingo will proctor games at Ginter Hall (South) from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. Including travel time, this project will require approximately 2 hours of time.

Card Making

The project will consist of deck power washing, a short section of gutter repair/replacement along with a new fascia board on the porch, some yard cleanup, and possible foundation power washing if we have the time. A great opportunity to help one of our Redeemer members!

CDC Carpet Cleaning

We are looking for 4 to 6 volunteers to help for approximately 4 hours in cleaning various rugs in the classrooms of our child development center.

Jump-rope Making

This year we will offer an activity specifically tailored to families with children who may not be old enough to participate in some of the other activities! This project will consist of using strips of old t-shirts to braid into jump ropes. After HOS day, these jump ropes will be donated to local schools to use for their PE classes as well as local charities to pass out to underprivileged families.

Home Repair Project #1

This project will involve fixing a doorbell, front porch light repair, as well as some yard work.  Volunteers can expect to spend about 4 - 6 hours on this project.

Home Repair Project #2

For this opportunity, volunteers can expect to do repairs on a door, light vent cleaning, and installation of home lighting.  This job will require approximately 4 to 6 hours of time.

Kitchen Clean-Up

Kitchen Clean-Up: Our kitchen is truly central to many of the ministries that we hold here at Redeemer! From feeding the community for Screen on the Green to providing snacks for our CDC kids 5 days a week, our kitchen is always bustling with activity. However, just like the rest of our building, it could use some attention to help maintain the standard of cleanliness that is necessary! This year, we will be assembling a team to help "deep clean" the kitchen and make sure it remains a clean and healthy environment.

Knitting and Crochet Group

Each year RLC members have done a project to help out those in need and spread the love of Christ. This year the knitting and crochet group will be working to make various projects for this reason!  Any one of any age is welcome to join this project!

Quilting

Each year RLC distributes hand made quilts to members who are in care with health issues, our Christmas Giving Tree families, and to Lutheran World Relief. These quilts have gone to places as far away as West Africa, India, and the country of Georgia, where they are distributed to the destitute and those in crisis. We will be cutting fabric, laying out quilt tops, and tying quilts on HOS Day.

RLC Internal Projects

Traditionally, HOS day includes a project to spruce up the Sanctuary and this year will be no different. This project is open to the youth (middle and high school) and adults. Additionally, there will be some other projects here on site to help make our church look fresh and clean.

Shenandoah Clean-Up

Shenandoah Clean-Up: As a community based church, we are always cognizant of ways to help support and bolster our relationships with the communities around us. To this end, we will have a team of people helping to spread mulch and do some general clean up around the grounds of the Shenandoah Clubhouse and tennis courts.

PLEASE CONSIDER VOLUNTEERING!!
